KUALA LUMPUR – Everything seems to go the Singapore Slingers’ way as they continue to sizzle in the preseason with another victory, 81-70, and this time at the expense of Westports Malaysia Dragons.
The Singapore-based cagers once again emerged victorious as the Dragons fell prey to the their unrelenting defense and fluid ball movement throughout the game.
Jerran Young stood tall among everyone else and tallied 25 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists across his name. The Slingers were ahead almost the entire four quarters, dominating the paint with a whopping 79.2% shooting percentage. Although the Dragons managed to outshine them in terms of second chance points, 13-2, the former were able to capitalize on their bench players and get production from them. They also led in fast break points, 25-15.
On the other end, Sundiata Gaines tried to keep Westports within reach with 23 markers, 8 rebounds, and 4 dimes to lead the Dragons in scoring. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to cut the 7-point deficit entering the second half, until the margin ballooned to 18 at the end of the third frame. Chris Eversley also chipped in for the home team with an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double outing.
