It was the matchup everyone was waiting to see, but did not deliver. Hong Kong Eastern came with a
physical game plan and muscled the Slingers out of the contest in the second half cruising to an
emphatic 68-52 win.
Heading into the match, the Slingers, on paper looked like they may challenge a loaded Hong Kong line
up but that would not be the case on the night. For the Slingers the only player who could get anything
going on offense was centre CJ Gettys who finished with 25pts and 22rebs. Kentrell Barkley and Xavier
Alexander were both taken out of there game by the physical defense finishing with 13pts & 0pts
respectively.
Hong Kong Eastern’s physical defense held the Slingers to a dismal 27% field-goal shooting for the game.
The Slingers will look to bounce back when they face Zamboanga from the Philippines at 6:00pm at
OCBC Arena in the final game in Singapore.
All 8 teams will then head out to Batam for the second leg of the 2023 ABL Invitational as it moves to
Indonesia.
