The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers announced today that they have signed Singaporeans Wong Wei Long and Desmond Oh for the 2014 AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season. In accordance with team policy, terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
Wong Wei Long, who will be in his 5th year with the Slingers, posted a career high in scoring average last season with 9.5 points per game. He will again juggle his school commitment to Nanyang Technological University (NTU) while training and playing with the Slingers.
Also in his 5th year with the Slingers, Desmond Oh Wei Jie is looking to bounce back after an up and down 2013 season. Desmond will also continue to look after the Slingers’ off the court community programs.
Both players are mainstays in the Singapore Men’s National Team.
The Jobstreet.com Singapore Slingers, Singapore’s first and only Professional Basketball Team, are set to open the season in their new home court – the newly built 3,000-seater OCBC Arena, located at the Singapore SportsHub.
Jobstreet.com Singapore Slingers Head Coach Neo Beng Siang said: “It is great to have two of our key veteran local players signed for the 2014 ABL season.” He added: “Both Wei Long & Desmond are important members of the National Team and the ABL has proven to be of great benefit to our National Team players, exposing the players to regional high quality competition on a regular basis.”
