OCBC Arena, Singapore – On the debut night of their newest import, Dior Lowhorn, the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers struggled from the floor and lost to the visiting Indonesia Warriors, 65-54. Lowhorn, who arrived in Singapore at 2AM on Friday, led the Slingers in scoring with 18 points. Kyle Jeffers recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a losing cause.

Tremayne Johnson scored 14 points while Chris Ellis had 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Indonesia Warriors who now sport a 2-5 win-loss record.

Han Bin Ng scored the game’s first basket as he converted from beyond the arc off an assist from Kyle Jeffers. The Indonesia Warriors went on a 10-2 run that broke the game wide open courtesy of back to back 3 pointers from John Smith and 4 straight points from Tremayne Johnson. Vinton Surawi came off the bench and hit another from rainbow country that saw the Warriors pad their lead 17-12 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

Lowhorn, still jet lagged from his flight from San Francisco, scored 9 consecutive points in the 2nd Quarter that brought the Slingers back in the game. Wong Wei Long added 5 points in the quarter that saw the Warriors lead trimmed down to 1 going to halftime, 34-33.

The Indonesia Warriors stepped on the gas pedal as their stingy defense choked the home team in the 3rd Quarter. The Warriors limited the Slingers to convert only 3 of 6 field goals and forced them to commit 6 turnovers. The visiting team from Indonesia capitalized on the opportunity and converted those turnovers to 10 points. The Warriors also made 4 three pointers that saw them take the lead 55-45 at the end of 3 quarters.

John Smith’s 3 pointer that started the 4th Quarter saw the Warriors lead balloon to 13 with 9:24 to play. Kyle Jeffers tried to carry the scoring chores for the Slingers by scoring 4 straight points that trimmed the Warriors lead down to 9 with 7 minutes left in the ball game. The Warriors went on a 6-0 run that started on a Dodo Sitepu outside jumper, followed by 4 points from Chris Ellis, which led to a comfortable 15-point margin for the visiting team that they never relinquished.

The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers will head over to Batam, Indonesia on Sunday, August 24, to face slumping Laskar Dreya South Sumatra at the Hi-Test Arena at 3PM. Game will be live on SuperSports Arena at 4PM Singapore Time.
