13th December 2017: Surabaya Indonesia
The Singapore Slingers coming off a tough home lose and a slow start in tonights away game in Indonesia rode on the back of a career night from import Xavier Alexander who finished with 39pts, 16 rebs, 3 assists & 3 steals in the Slingers 79 – 71 win against the CLS Knight in Surabaya tonight.
In front of a pumped up home crowd, CLS jumped out to a 13 point lead before they could get anything going but it was the home team that took a 22-15 lead into the first break. The second quarter was much of the same with the Slingers battling just to stay in the contest, CLS took a 40-37 advantage into the half time break.
The second half was a different story for the Slingers, they came out and played with greater desperation on both ends of the floor and turn a 3 point deficit at the half into a 61-56 after 3 quarters. Behind a vocal home crowds CLS closed the deficit to just 3 points before Xavier Alexander took over the game with some clutch baskets down the stretch to ensure a much needed victory for the Slingers.
The Slingers also got solid contributions from Import Ryan Wright and locals Ng Han Bin and Russel Low. Missing Delvin Goh who was unable to make the trip, Kelvin Lim had his best minutes coming back from a knee injury sustained last season.
