CHANGHUA CITY – Sweet revenge, indeed.

The Singapore Slingers bounced back from two consecutive losses with a convincing 88-80 win over the Formosa Dreamers in front of a jam-packed crowd in Changhua County Stadium.

Neither team wanted to give ground to the other, as both teams exchanged baskets immediately from the get-go. Ng Han Bin sparked the fiery start of the Slingers with three triples in the opening frame.

Will Artino, who was struggling in a couple of games prior to their victory against the CLS Knights yesterday, emerged in tip-top shape as he kept the Dreamers within reach from the visiting squad at the end of the opening quarter. Also leading the charge was local Kenny Chien who scored a career-high 23 points on top of four assists and four steals.

The shootout continued in the second frame this time with Jerran Young firing on all cylinders. But the home team always had an answer as imports Malcolm Miller and Tevin Glass pitched in to grab the lead from the Slingers at the half.

After sinking four triples, Han Bin was never to be found unguarded from beyond the arc. Unfortunately, a driving Chien collided with the sharpshooter forward, causing him to wince in pain with a sprained knee. He did not return to the ball game but he declared via his Instagram account that he is in good condition now.

Xavier Alexander and John Fields also rose to the occasion and chipped in 17 and 20 points apiece as the Slingers ultimately outlasted the Dreamers after a fourth quarter surge to snap their two-game losing streak and climb to 6-3.

Young had an all-around performance and led all scorers with a double-double outing of 27 points and 11 rebounds to add to his eight assists, four steals, and three blocks.

The Singapore Slingers will be on the road once again as they go against the streaking Hong Kong Eastern who are on a three-game win streak.
