The 2017-18 ABL season will feature 9 teams from 9 different countries all battling for the ABL Championship Trophy.
Catch the Singapore Slingers at OCBC Arena on Sunday 26th Nov when they play their opening home game against the CLS Knights from Indonesia.
The Singapore Slingers have reloaded the roster in their pursuit of the 2017-18 ABL Title. Having played in the last 2 ABL Final Series and come up just short the Slingers have made some changes focused on making another run at the crown.
With centre Justin Howard moving on to the Nanhai Long Lions the Slingers have opted for a smaller but more athletic centre who is quick up and down the floor in Canadian Ryan Wright. Wright is an athletic player who played his college basketball at UCLA before transferring to the University of Oklahoma. The Slingers have also brought in Filipino/Canadian AJ Mandani to help sure up the point guard position as the Slingers look to up the tempo of their offence this season.
The Slingers have added rookie Singapore National team PG and defensive specialist Lim Jun Yuan and welcome back power forward Russel Low, Russel gives the Slingers that extra big they missed at times last season. It is hoped that guard Larry Liew who saw limited time due to his Police Force commitments and injury last season will be available to train and play more often this season.
With main stays Ng Han Bin, Desmond Oh, Delvin Goh, Mitch Folkoff, Kelvin Lim and Tay Ding Loon the roster has plenty of experienced local players.
The Singapore Slingers will commence their ABL campaign in China on the 17th November when they face former Slingers centre Justin Howard and the Nanhai Long Lions before returning home to face the CLS Knights from Indonesia in their opening home game of the 2017-18 season.
