Singapore Slingers win club record 5th straight game with a 78-71 win over the Malaysia Dragons in Kuala Lumpur.

The Slingers led today’s top of the table clash against the Malaysia Dragons in Kuala Lumpur for 39 mins and 35 secs as they kept the Dragons to just 28% shooting from the field for the match.
Dragons Import Reginald Johnson led all scorers with 36 points and 19 rebounds, but the Slingers defense was the key factor of the game. The Slingers were able to keep Dragons ASEAN imports Jason Brickman and Matthew Wright to 7 points & 8 points respectively for the game.

For the Slingers, the scoring was evenly spread with Justin Howard 16 points, Xavier Alexander 16 points, Wong Wei Long 15 points and Kris Rosales 14 points. Slingers young forward Delvin Goh who played 25 minutes did a good job in keeping Dragons Import Calvin Godfrey to just 11points for the game. Godfery had previously averaged 30 points per game in 3 games previous against the Slingers.

This Singapore Slingers are now on a 5 game win streak, which is made even more impressive by the fact that all 5 wins came away from home. The Slingers have just wrapped up a tough 6 game road stretch in which the team won games against Hitech Bangkok City in Bangkok, Pilipinas MX3 Kings in Manila (twice), Saigon Heat in Saigon and Malaysia Dragons in Kuala Lumpur.

The Slingers now go into the 2 week Christmas break on top of the ABL ladder with a 8 – 2 win/loss record, 8 of those 10 games have been road games.
Slingers Head Coach Neo Beng Siang said after the game, ” We are very happy to be 8-2 at this stage, when the schedule came out and we had 8 of our first 10 games on the road we knew it would be tough to finish this stretch with a winning record”. Coach Neo went on to say, “we are now looking forward to playing some home games starting on the 3rd January and we will be working hard to maintain our good start to the season.
