Singapore Slingers Guard Hong Wei Jian aka Flyboy, was among the 18 finalists for the JCI Singapore Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World awards held at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Wei Jian was chosen as a finalist from a list of 50 candidates. He was selected for his playing accomplishments and his community work as the coordinator of the Singapore Slingers Schools Clinics, Community and Charity Programs.
The JCI Awards attracts candidates from every field including law, business, sports, charity, environment, etc. The award is open to young persons aged between 18–40.
Although Wei Jian was not chosen in the top 10 winners on the night, he was honored to make such a prestigious list.
