Singapore – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers play host to ABL newcomers Bangkok Cobras at the Singapore Indoor Stadium at 4pm on Sunday, January 29th, in the continuing action of the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League. Both teams are coming off victories – the Slingers with a road victory against the Saigon Heat, and the Cobras defeating the defending champions Chang Thailand Slammers.

Slingers Coach Neo Beng Siang is hoping that his team gets off to a quicker start in the game against the Cobras. “We have started poorly in our first 3 games. Fortunately, we were able to turn it around in the second half in the previous 2 victories. What we want, though, is to start strong and finish the game strongly as well,” said Coach Neo.

The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers will have their work cut out for them though, as imports Donald Little, Louis Graham, and Vaughn Canta, are all in sick bay. General Manager Michael Johnson said: “Our local players should use this as motivation to step up for the game against Bangkok.” “The Cobras have an experienced Coach in Joe Bryant, and are coming off a win against the defending champs, we’re sure they’re very motivated coming into this game. It is a test of our team’s character on how we respond to that,” he added.

Gentry Lewis, Michael Earl, and Filipino Marvin Cruz will head the charge for the Cobras. With Little, Graham, and Canta all ailing, Don Dulay, who had 16 points in the win against Saigon Heat, and Guards Desmond Oh & Wong Wei Long, who made key plays in their previous home game against the Chang Thailand Slammers, will need to step up if the Slingers are to win this important game at home.

Tip Off is at 4PM on Sunday, January 29. Tickets are available through SISTIC at www.sistic.com.sg.
