The Singapore Slingers today announce that they have signed import Xavier Alexander for the 2017-18 ABL season.
Alexander who is coming off his second consecutive trip to the ABL finals with the Slingers averaged 18.5ppg, 10.4rpg and 5.8apg last season. The X-Man, as he is affectionately called by his local legion of fans, has been an integral part of the Slingers success over the past two seasons. Alexander has expressed his excitement at returning to the place he refers to as his second home, to take the Slingers that extra step this season.
The Slingers also announced that they have resigned veteran local players Desmond Oh and Ng Han Bin for the 2017-18 season.
Both Han Bin and Desmond have done a lot for the club both on and off the court and we are delighted to have them on board again this season said Slingers management. Both players are heavily involved in the Slingers schools & community basketball programs as well as the Activesg Basketball Academy in Singapore.
With the 2017 SEA Games taking place in Malaysia from the 20th – 26th August, Slingers fans can look forward to more announcements on player signings after the National Team players return from Malaysia.
Slingers Head Coach Neo Beng Siang said, “ We will look at the form of all the National Team players at the SEA Games before deciding on the final make up of our 2017-18 roster”.
“Securing the services of Xavier , Han Bin & Desmond for the upcoming ABL season is a great start to building our roster for another championship run”, said Neo.
The 2017-18 ABL season is set to tip-off on the 1st November 2017.
Alexander and the rest of the Slingers roster will be in place by the 15th Sept as they prepare for the 2017 Merlion Cup in Singapore from the 20th – 24th Sept.
