Singapore – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers today announced that Donald Rashaad Singleton will be coming in as a replacement for the injured Kyle Jeffers.
Singleton recently saw action for Sitra Club in the Bahrain Premier League where he teamed up with former Satria Muda BritAma (now Indonesia Warriors) Import Jamal Holden.
A 7’0 footer who is a shot blocking force inside, Singleton donned the Red and Black for the Bulldogs when he played for the University of Georgia for 3 years prior to transferring to Florida Southern University.
He was undrafted in the 2009 NBA Draft but was immediately picked up by the New York Knicks and was included in their 2009 Summer League roster.
Singleton has also played in numerous top leagues around the world, including the Liga Nationala in Romania, BJ League in Japan, the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional and the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacifico in Mexico, and the Jordanian Premier Basketball League.
“It is going to be tough when you replace a popular player like Kyle Jeffers. It is difficult to find the right replacement and it can be hard on the new player coming in as well. With Rashaad Singleton, we are going with a young and hungry player looking to make his mark,” said Michael Johnson, General Manager of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers.
Coach Neo Beng Siang, Head Coach of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers added: “Rashaad has been a standout defensive player where ever he has played and we are looking for him to solidify our inside defense for the rest of the season. He will hit the ground running though, arriving early morning Friday, and then he is expected to be at the individuals training at 10am and then again at team training at 7pm on Friday. The team will then travel to Kuala Lumpur on Saturday in preparation for our away game against the Westports Malaysia Dragons on Sunday.”
Singleton was initially scheduled to arrive in Singapore at 1am on Thursday, however, his flight has been delayed due to severe snow storms in the midwest in the US. He is now scheduled to arrive at 1am on Friday.
