Singapore – With the start of the Season 4 of the ASEAN Basketball League under 2 months away, the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers announced today that they have re-signed four local players from the 2012 roster – Oh Wei Jie Desmond, Lim Sheng Yu, Ng Han Bin, and young up & coming star Goh Kok Chiang Delvin.

Desmond Oh, in his 4th year of duty with the Slingers, leads this year’s cast of locals signings. Desmond posted improved game averages last year – 5 points per game and 1.48 rebounds in over 20 minutes per game. The Glove, as he is commonly referred to for his tenuous defense, caused plenty of problems for opponents with his sticky-defense last year. Desmond will be expected to play a vital role in shuting down the opposing teams leading scorers in 2013.

Forward Lim Sheng Yu also saw his time on the court increase last season to almost 10 minutes per game. Sheng Yu, in his 3rd year with the Slingers, is expected to be a vital player coming off the Slingers bench in the 2013 season. Sheng Yu averaged 2.44 points a game last year while shooting 78% from the free throw line.

Guard/Foward Ng Han Bin, also in his 3rd year with the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers, is coming back with a vengeance in 2013. Han Bin played sparingly last season but has worked hard during the off season to push for more court time this year. His stellar play in the 2012 Cable Beach Invitational Tournament in Broome, Western Australia playing against quality pro teams from Australia & China should see a boost to his confidence this season. Coach Neo surely welcomes another offensive threat off the bench. Han Bin shot 33% from the 3pt arc in the 2012 ABL season.

Last but not least, Rookie Sensation Delvin Goh, who appeared in 4 games last year for the Slingers, will show everyone how much he has improved after having a year of professional basketball under his belt. Delvin starred for the Singapore National Team in the U18 SEABA Tournament held in Singapore last August. With the retirement of the front court combination Pathman S/O Matialakan and Steven Khoo, expect Delvin to play a lot more minutes this season.

JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers Head Coach Neo Beng Siang said “I am very excited about the upcoming season. We missed the playoffs for the first time last season and we are determined to get back there this season. We have identified the gaps in our roster from last year and know where we need to improve.” Coach Neo Beng Siang is in his 3rd year as the Head Coach of Singapore’s first and only professional basketball team.

Michael Johnson, General Manager of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers said “Our early exit last season motivated everyone to keep improving and continue honing their skills. We not only expect our experienced local players – Desmond, Sheng Yu & Han Bin to step up their game this year but also the new players we are bringing in. We’re also expecting our 200 cm, 17 year old Forward Delvin Goh to make more of an impact on the court throughout the 2013 season.”
