Singapore – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers announced today that the club has signed Phillip Morrison as their 2nd ASEAN Import to replace Injured Donald Dulay. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Filipino-American Phillip Morrison previously played for the Saigon Heat. He suited up with the Heat for 8 games and averaged 8.13 points per game. Morrison notched a season-high of 19 points against the Chang Thailand Slammers in just his second game with the Heat.
“I’m thankful God opened a door and I’m truly humbled and excited to play for the Slingers,” said Morrison, who played for Asbury University in Kentucky, about joining the Slingers. He also added that he is “humbled and excited to play for the Slingers.” The California-born, Kentucky-raised spitfire guard also said that he “plans on helping the team out in anyway (he) can and represent the organization to the best of (his) ability.”
An All-American, All-Conference, and All-Mideast Region player while suiting up for the Asbury Eagles, he was ranked 7th in the US in scoring during his senior year while averaging 21.7 points per game. Morrison averaged 20.7 points per game during his junior year.

We hope the change will give the team a spark so we can get back to winning games.” The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers are currently on a four-game losing skid and are on 4th place on the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League standings with a 4-7 win-loss slate.
Morrison arrived in Singapore on Tuesday and trained with the team the same night. Morrison was quoted: “The Coaches and Players have all welcomed me into their culture. They work hard and are very dedicated, so I feel right at home.” He also added, “I’m truly blessed and thankful for this opportunity.”
Morrison, who will wear #15, will suit up for the Slingers on Friday, March 22nd, as Singapore’s first and only professional basketball team travel to Malaysia and play against the Westports Malaysia Dragons.
