Singapore – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers announced today that ASEAN import Don Dulay has been released by the club. Dulay has been battling Achilles and hamstring injuries that have hampered his effectiveness this season.
Neo Beng Siang, Head Coach of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers said: “Don is such a great person and we tried to stay with him as long as we could. Unfortunately, in such an important role as our starting point guard, we were struggling without Don being at 100%. Don has been a great team player and a real professional in his time with the Slingers.”
Donald Isidro Dulay was in his second tour of duty with the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers, Singapore’s first and only professional basketball team. He signed with the team prior to the start of the 2012 ASEAN Basketball League season and joined the Slingers in the preseason tournaments in Broome, Western Australia, and in Manila. He has played 11 games in the 2013 ASEAN Basketball League season, and a total of 33 games for the Slingers franchise.
“We are sad to be parting company with Don who is a quality individual and has given so much to the club on and off the court,” said Michael Johnson, General Manager of the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers. He added, “Don leaves Singapore knowing he will always be an important part of the Slingers family. He handled the news that the club is making the change in a true professional manner and with real class. We wish him the best as he heads back home to Manila with his wife Glaiza.”
Dulay was averaging 6.64 points per game, 2.5 assists per game, and 1.18 steals per game. In his stint as a Slinger, he has career averages of 9.42 points per game, 3.57 assists per game, and 1.60 steals per game.
