The Singapore Slingers are still on the road as they take on the struggling Wolf Warriors in ASEAN Basketball League action.

The Slingers are aiming to atone for a disappointing 88-81 loss to Hong Kong Eastern Basketball Team on January 9, 2019. It was a back and forth affair, with the Slingers holding onto the lead in the Southorn Stadium, 64-59 entering the final frame.

However the home team responded with a flurry against the visiting Singapore squad, beginning the final period with a 15-4 run to take a six point lead, 74-68 with 6:42 left in the game.

The Slingers tried to rally back behind a determined Xavier Alexander, as he got his team to within 5 points with 26 seconds remaining in the game. However it wasn’t meant to be, as Hong Kong Eastern made it’s free throws to secure the victory.

Thus the Slingers fall to 6 wins and 4 losses in the season. However, the silver lining is that they face the Wolf Warriors, currently with only 1 win against 9 losses, and smarting from a 105-95 loss to the defending champions San Miguel Alab Pilipinas.

Singapore will look to its reliable duo of Xavier Alexander and John Fields to lead the team once again. Against Hong Kong, Alexander tallied 29 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Fields on the other hand had 23 points and 11 rebounds in the oss.

Delvin Goh should also be determined to have a better performance, as he put up a quiet 5 points and 6 rebounds in the loss. Ditto for World Import Jerran Young, who had 11 points on 5/13 from the field.

Singapore will be aiming to repeat their win against the Wolf Warriors when they won convincingly in the OCBC Arena, 99-77. Jerran Young was spectacular in that blowout win, tallying 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Will the Slingers get back on track against the Wolf Warriors?
