The Singapore Slingers are gunning for a season sweep of the Westports Malaysia Dragons as they face off for the final time in the elimination round.

The Slingers have dominated the matches so far winning big at home (101-47 and 81-44) and emerging victorious on the road at the MABA Stadium (87-76) but now they will be facing a team in desperate need of a victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The Dragons are coming off an impressive 80-76 victory against the Saigon Heat so they could not be treated lightly.

Singapore now sits at far third after San Miguel Alab Pilipinas and the streaking Formosa Dreamers so the name of the game is holding on to their spot and making sure they’ll have home-court advantage at the start of the ABL playoffs.

Finishing at the second spot could have still been a possibility for Singapore but they stumbled in their last match 99-95 against the BTN CLS Knights Indonesia. The Slingers got big games from Jerran Young and Xavier Alexander but they could not survive the foul troubles for John Fields.

With the Singapore locals playing well on defense but not really chipping on much on offense, there’s so much pressure on their three imports to bring it game after game. Young had 41 points while Alexander had 32 but Fields only scored nine points and grabbed 5 rebounds before fouling out of the game.

Alexander is closing in on accomplishing a couple of scoring goals as he is 17 away from reaching the 2,000 points. He’s also 66 points away from crowning himself as the All-Time Scoring Leader in the ABL.
