Singapore – The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers try to quickly regroup as they play the Saigon Heat this Sunday, April 29, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. The Slingers recently lost to league-leaders San Miguel Beermen, 68-64, in a tightly contested match in Manila.
Currently at fifth place in the 3rd Season of the AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League, the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers, Singapore’s first and only professional basketball team, are still in a hunt for a playoff berth. With only 4 games remaining in the regular season, every game counts for the Slingers.
The Saigon Heat are currently on a 2-game losing streak, their most recent one coming off a loss in against the AirAsia Philippine Patriots. The Heat are led by Americans Jonathan Jones and Jahmar Thorpe, who are averaging a combined 39.34 points a game.
Kyle Jeffers and Louis Graham are expected to lead the Slingers against the Heat. Both imports are averaging double doubles in scoring and rebounds – Jeffers with 17.8 points and 12.8 rebounds per game, Graham with 19.47 points and 12.5 rebounds per game. The deadly three guard combo of Don Dulay, Wong Wei Long, and Desmond Oh will also help them in their quest for another victory at home.
In their previous match-ups, the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers won over the Saigon Heat in Saigon, 60-55, while the Heat won over the Slingers in Singapore, 72-67.
