The Singapore Slingers let their hard earned home court advantage in the semi finals of the ABL Playoffs slip through their fingers when they were defeated by the ABL defending champion Hitech Bangkok City 73-70 at the OCBC Arena yesterday.

Although the loss was a major set back for the Slingers they were quick to point out that the team had not lost 2 consecutive games this season.

Coach Neo Beng Siang said “This is a 3 game series and until one team wins 2 games the series is still alive”. We will look at what we need to change for Game 2 in Bangkok, but we are still confident in our ability to bounce back hard on Friday night”, he added.

The Slingers didn’t play at their peak in Game 1 but they managed to hang tough throughout the game, they had their chances to pull out the win the opening game of the series, but some missed layups and key missed free throws in the last few minutes saw the opportunity slip away.

The series now switches to Thailand where the teams will play Game 2 in Bangkok on Friday night at 7:00pm (Thailand Time).

The equation is simple now for the Slingers, a Hitech Bangkok City win and the defending champions advance to the Championship Final Series and the Slingers season is over, a Singapore Slingers win and their will be a Game 3 decider at the OCBC Arena in Singapore on Sunday 6th March at 4:00pm
