Hi-Tech Bangkok City puts 7 Game Win Streak Against Slingers

Singapore – Currently atop the leader pack in the 2014 AirAsia ASEAN Basketball League with a 7-0 win loss record, the Hi-Tech Bangkok City visit Singapore this Sunday, August 31st, to battle it out with the JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers at the newly built OCBC Arena.

Thailand’s lone representative in the ABL this year, Hi-Tech is on a hot streak winning all 7 of their games at home. They are led by their twin tower duo of Christien Charles, last year’s Most Valuable World Import, and Steven Thomas, who won a championship playing with the Indonesia Warriors in 2012. Charles averages 22 points, 10.71 rebounds, and 4.57 blocks per game, while Thomas adds 11.29 points and 10.57 rebounds per game.

ASEAN Import Jerick Cañada who also won a championship with the Warriors, is steady at the point guard spot for Hi-Tech averaging 9.57 points and 4.86 assists per game. Cañada’s latest heroics gave the victory to Hi-Tech when they played the Saigon Heat last Thurday, August 28, when he scored his team’s last 7 points, including the go-ahead 3 pointer that saw his team take the lead for good.

The JobStreet.com Singapore Slingers are coming off a 77-62 victory against Laskar Dreya South Sumatra last Sunday in Batam where new import Dior Lowhorn top-scored with 28 points.

Lowhorn will team up in the frontline with Kyle Jeffers & Russel Low against Hi-Tech. Jeffers, the only World Import who has played with the same team the past 5 years in the ABL, is averaging a solid 15.50 points and 14.10 rebounds per game. Wei Long, who is averaging 10.4ppg this season, will keep the guards from Hi-Tech busy.

The Slingers had a close match when they played Hi-Tech in Bangkok earlier this season. Playing with only one import in Kyle Jeffers after Hassan Adams went down with an injury early in the game, the Slingers fought hard until the last minute of the game before Jeffers fouled out and gave away a 59-51 victory to the home team.

The game on Sunday will be the Slingers’ last Sunday regular season home game. The remaining regular season games will be on a Wednesday & Friday nights . Game time is at 4PM and tickets can be purchased from Sports Hub Tix.
